Hi guys! Today is an exciting day for me because I have finally found a deep conditioner that is worth sharing with you all.Over the past 4 months I have been testing out different conditioners in my quest to find my holy grail moisturising deep conditioner for my natural hair.
So far I have tried 4 different ones and this is the only one I feel like I can recommend. I have deliberately been choosing ones that are affordable but had good ingredients because you know a girl ain’t rich and I’m not trying to be hungry with a head full of beautiful curls. None of what I tried had me wowed and so I decided I needed to take the plunge and step up to a bit more of an expensive product with hopes that it would do me justice.
Hello everyone! Welcome back. Today’s post is short and quick but it is such an important topic because of the vast number of people who suffer from this condition dandruff. Without a healthy scalp I cannot expect to have healthy hair and so I have been on the quest to find the cure for my dandruff. I have tried creams, shampoos and even other natural remedies like Tea Tree Oil but none have work as well as Apple Cider Vinegar. And to think how cheap and accessible it is! If you are one of the millions who have tried chemicals and creams and shampoos to no avail, stress no more because I’ve got you. Watch the video tutorial below to see how I have used Apple Cider Vinegar to get my dandruff under control. You are welcome!
Every time I scroll down my Instagram feed I see beautiful naturalistas showing off the most perfect curly hair and I think how wonderful is it. But for every one of these posts there are a whole host of followers in the comments complaining about bad hair days and bemoaning the fact that their hair is not turning out like that. As I go about my day almost everyday I’m asked multiple times whether in person or online : “How did you get your hair like that?”; Followed by “how can I get mine to look like that?” After directing them to my blog or Youtube channel I usually ask a few questions to see what they are doing wrong and offer some specific solutions. And while everybody’s hair is different and no set of rules apply to everyone I have noticed many commonalities among persons who complain that their hair just doesn’t turn out right or is dry, frizzy, undefined etc. I have compiled a list of the top 10 reasons your wash and go is not coming out right and not to worry I will be offering some advice on how to fix these problems. So if your wash and go keep turning out wrong keep reading:
In my last post I shared a quick method of doing my wash and go. Since I did the video tutorial I have been getting questions about the white residue as well as whether my hair is crunchy after it dries.
Consequently I went ahead and recorded a video showing my hair when it’s dry as well as how I get rid of any crunch. Have a watch:
If you have been looking for a quicker way to do your wash and go but still get defined beautiful long-lasting curls then keep on reading! My signature wash and go that gives me the most defined curls on the planet is time-consuming to say the least. Using that technique, it takes me roughly 1 hour to do my hair. That is a big chunk of time especially if you are a mother like me or hell just an adult who has a million things to do.
Some weeks ago I was going out for a family day out but my hair wasn’t looking very hot so I decided to wash and restyle it the morning of the day I was going out so I needed to come up with a way to do my wash and go the quickest way possible.
My hair has been fully natural now for about two and a half months. Since I did the big chop I have been doing moisture based deep conditions once a week. I do not have a benchmark against which to judge whether my hair is doing great or not. However, what I know is that my curls are not clumping the way I would want them to without product in my hair. See exhibit A below- very frizzy.
Based on this observation and a little research I have decided to incorporate a protein deep conditioner into my routine. I know there are other things like Clay and Henna that might be able to remedy this issue but I need to do some more research before I start reaching for those Ayurvedic products. Plus I have prior experience using protein while on my relaxed hair journey so I inherently felt comfortable giving protein a try before anything else.
In picking a protein treatment I decided to forego my all time favourite ORS Hair Mayonnaise to go with something I always wanted to try but never did: the Aphogee Two Step Protein Treatment.
Hello! Today I am sharing what I am doing to make sure that my natural hair is the healthiest it can be. I uploaded a video to my YouTube channel where I show the steps in my wash day and so this post is to give some more context to that routine.
Since I did the big chop I have been immersed in an experimental phase of trying to figure out a routine for my hair. If there is one thing I have learned from my relaxed hair journey is that a routine is essential to have a healthy head of hair.
The most frequent question I get is “What do you use in your natural hair?” So obviously people are on a quest to find products that are going to have their hair looking it’s best. Today I am going to give you a guide for how to find these products without breaking the bank.
I recently did a more condensed version of this on my YouTube Channel. You may watch it now (video can also be found at the end of this post also) if you’re strapped for time or you prefer your advice in video form. In this post I will be sticking to the five tips I mentioned in the video but I will be expounding upon them a lot more.
Ever since I started my transition and especially now that I am completely natural I can’t stop fantacizing about the styles I want to try, and the products I want to use. I decided to compile a list of the top ten products I want to try. Sort of like a bucket list that I will tick off one by one and see if they are all worth the hype. You might find this helpful if you are natural and are searching for products to improve the health of your hair. If you are a more experienced natural please feel free let me know if you have already tried any of the products on my list and how they worked for you.
My picks are based on the reviews of some of my favourite Youtubers. These products should work well on Type 4 hair which is my hair type based on what I have observed so far. I have categorised them based on their purposes. So I ended up with five categories which are:
Deep Conditioners /Masques
Detanglers/ Rinse Out Conditioners
I have included clickable pictures (where I could find links) so that you can view each product in greater detail.
