5 Months Post Big Chop Length Check and Hair Update

5 Months Post Big Chop Length Check and Hair Update. In this post I do a quick length check on my five months post big chop natural hair. I also share some pictures of my hair in its blown out afro state. Marsha's Journey

Hi there! I hope you are having a great Sunday or whatever day it is when you are reading this. Today’s post is just a quick catch up and length check on my hair.

So I did the big chop at 10 months post big chop on the 23rd of July I think…I can’t remember exactly but the end of  this week would make it 5 months since I’ve big chopped.

As a part of any healthy hair regimen trimming regularly is VERY important. I have been noticing that my ends were feeling more tangled than usual so that was a clear indicator that I needed a trim. I was originally planning on doing a trim every 6 months but I just did not like the way my ends felt and I didn’t want to wait any longer and risk damage.

I think when my hair gets longer and I can do some more protective styles I should be good with trimming twice a year but for now since I wear my hair exposed to the elements in wash and go’s most of the time I need to trim more often.  So going forward I plan on trimming every 4 months or so. I trimmed roughly 1/4 of an inch. This was my first time trimming my natural hair and I didn’t even know going in how it would turn out so I didn’t record it but next time I will for sure. It was very easy to be honest.

I blew my hair out before I trimmed so it was very convenient for me to do a quick length check. I didn’t measure my hair but I was very impressed with how big my fro was! This is my first length and I will be doing one each time I trim so that I can track my growth progress. All in all I am very happy with the health of my hair.

Check out my length check and the rest of my  70s/80s retro afro pictures below. Thanks for reading and I will see you in my next post!
