Mini Hair Product Haul and First Impressions

I made a few  hair product purchases recently and thought I would share them with you guys. Some of them are old faves white others are new additions.

First up is the old faithful Eco Styler gel. I love this gel because it keeps your edges silk and neat without drying out your hair, making it crunchy or flaky. It is definitely my go to healthy hair friendly gel. By the way I don’t know where the label went…hmmm.

Funnily  I ended up picking it up after I bought another edge control that was just rubbish.

That brings me to the second item i purchased recently and it is the African Pride smooth Edges, edge control. I was looking for Ecostyler Gel and did not find it so i decided to go ahead and buy thus edge control for the time being. It would have been better if I had used some old school water and Vaseline.

When I opened it the look and texture reminded me of Let’s Jam that I used back in the day. I was immediately skeptical but decided to give it a chance. I applied it to my edges and brushed it in but it was not really smoothing my edges like I wanted it to . But that is not the worst part,  It has a very wet shiny look like melting petroleum jelly and it just melted onto my forehead as the day went on. Not a good look at all. I would not recommend this product.

Next is another African Pride product that I tried for the first time, but one that I was totally impressed by. If you can recall I mentioned  the African Pride Shae Butter moisturizer in a favourites post recently, that I absolutely loved. Well this is the creme version of that moisturiser and is more appropriate for thicker hair textures. So two thumbs up.

I also picked up the Orion Zimmi Moisturising Deep conditioner (formerly Creme of Nature). This conditioner was off the market for a while but it has been rebranded and is available again. I have been using this conditioner since I started my hair journey. The ingredients are pretty much the same as the old version and works the same way. It leaves my hair soft and manageable and I love the price (less than $600). If you are looking for an inexpensive but high quality deep conditioner this is your best bet.

An old favourite of mine also made it into my shopping cart. It is the S-curl No Drip Moisturiser. I absolutely have to have this when I am on my relaxer stretches.  If you find it difficult to comb through your roots once your hair starts growing out, try this and your tough roots worries will be over. Just spray unto you root, moisturise the length of your hair with  your regular moisturiser, seal and you wont believe the softness.

Finally I picked up some Tea Tree oil. I have heard good things about using Tea Tree oil to treat dandruff. My scalp has been extra itchy lately and even though it doesn;t have time to get flaky because I wash it often it still itches. Anti-danfruff shampoos and ointments do not help and so I have decided to give this a try. So far I have added it to my shampoo and oil but my scalp is still itchy, but I am going to give it a chance and i will let you guys know how it fairs in the long run.

I bought all these products at Discount Beauty Supplies with the exception of the Tea Tree Oil that I bought at a local health food store. . Thanks for reading. Happy hair journey!
